We are committed to seeing that your road travel is completely safe and enjoyable as you relax and take in the ever-changing scenery and curiosities your tour of Vietnam will offer. Below is an overview of various types of vehicles used in Vietnam. Have special needs or requests? Contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you.
For groups of 2 people on local tours we will typically arrange for a four seat car. Types of cars currently in use are the Toyota Altis or Toyota Vios with model years between 2003 and 2006.
For groups of 3-4 people on local tours, we will typically arrange for an eight seat mini-van/SUV crossover type vehicle. The most popular models currently in use are the Toyota Innova and Toyota Zace, model years 2005 to 2006.
For groups of 4-6 people on overland tours, or for groups of 8-10 people on local tours we use larger, high roof sixteen seat vans. These vans are most of the Ford Transit or Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, model years 2004 to 2006.
For even larger groups we are able to use a twenty-four seat mini-bus. These mini-buses are Hyundai County models and range in years from 2002 to 2006.
If your tour will take you to rugged, mountainous terrain, an appropriate four-wheel-drive vehicle will be provided. One of the most popular 4-wheel-drive vehicles in use is the Ford Everest, and other good choices include the Mitsubishi Montero and a Toyota model similar to a 4-Runner. Please note that occasionally terrain may be so rugged, and destinations so distant, that the use of a four-wheel-drive, Russian-made military vehicle may be used. In these instances, the vehicle will be safe, but not as comfortable and may not have air conditioning. (Use of these vehicles is diminishing rapidly, especially in the tourism sector – if you are planning a tour into the most remote regions and are certain you would not want to use one of these vehicles, please inform us upon booking).
All vehicles used during your tour will have safety belts, air-conditioning, be properly maintained and in new or near new condition. In addition, most vehicles will have a compact disk player and some have DVD players. If you would like to bring your own CD’s or DVD’s this is totally acceptable and even encouraged, if you will be driving long distances.
More Fun Travel only contracts with drivers that are well trained in the vehicles they operate and are familiar with the roads they will be expected to travel on and the condition of those roads. They will also have an unblemished safety record. Though these driver’s highest priority will be your safety, they are also concerned about your comfort. Never hesitate to ask for the A/C to be turned up or down, the volume on the sound system to be adjusted, or the seats to be adjusted to provide more leg-room. And by all means, please notify your guide and driver if you simply need to make a stop for a restroom break, for refreshment, to stretch your legs, or simply to stop and enjoy the scenery.
If for any reason you should want to have a bigger vehicle than is required i.e. would prefer to always be in a mini-van/SUV crossover as opposed to being in a sedan, please notify us upon booking and we will make the proper arrangements. In addition, you may be surprised to learn that many luxury vehicles are available in Vietnam. Many classes of Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Lexus are available should you want to travel in luxury during your tour. Please contact us for any special requests and we will do our best to meet them.
