Northeast is a regional subdivision of Vietnam. This region encompasses the provinces that are northeast of Hanoi, near the Vietnamese border with China. Day 1: Hanoi – Ba Be (250km) (D)
Depart for this exotic trip to Northeast Vietnam through the Red River Delta to Thai Nguyen, we drive up and pass through the undulating terrain of tea plantation. On the way, we will visit Museum of the Cultures of Vietnam’s Ethnic Groups. Arrival in Ba Be National Park in the early afternoon, we check into the home stay in Pac Ngoi Village of the Tay minority then it is our free time for strolling around the village. Dinner and home stay with the Tay minority.
Day 2: Ba Be – Cao Bang (120Km) (B, L)
Today, we will spend the morning exploring the beauty of Ba Be lakes on the local canoes. Ba Be Lake, surrounded by rugged limestone mountains, is Vietnam’s only natural mountain lake. The trip leading us to visit the impressive Puong cave and trek to Dau Dang waterfall before heading north through the mountains to Cao Bang.

Day 3: Cao Bang – Ban Gioc waterfall – Cao Bang (170km) (B)
Heading out of Cao Bang, we take a scenic day trip north to the beautiful Ban Gioc Waterfall in the most remote northern region of Cao Bang Province. This picturesque, cascading waterfall is 53 meters high and has an impressive span of 300 meters. The unique landscape includes limestone karst formations soaring from the verdant rice paddies of Tay, H’Mong and Dzao ethnic minority groups. On the way back to Cao Bang, explore the expansive 2,144 meter Nguom Ngao Cavern to discover its brilliant stalactites.

Day 4: Cao Bang – Lang Son – Hanoi (300km) (B)
Before departing Cao Bang, we will climb the hill up to the War Memorial for a great panoramic view. The famous Highway 4 winds its way through steep mountain passes with spectacular vistas! Lang Son, the capital of this mountainous area, is an important crossing and trading route with China. The area is home to Dzao, Man, Tho and Nung ethnic minority groups. Arrival Hanoi in the late afternoon.
